This is a site eligible for even the least experienced divers, with no currents and with a maximum 15 metres depth.

To reach the Amphora Beach, we travel approximately 10 miles by boat from Dive Hub Iskele to to north east, to Bafra region where the dive site is located, and once we reach the dive site we enter the clear waters and descend to 8 metres rocky plateau rock formation covered with the Neptune grass. As we descend the 2 metres tall wall, we reach the sandy bottom of 14-15 metres and swim along the wall coming across an amphora or stone anchor on every step. In the ancient times, would carry several stone anchors to secure the vessel for the loading or unloading of cargo. To increase the cargo capacity, the anchors would often be thrown into the sea and additional cargo loaded in their place. Given the proximity of Bafra to the larger commercial port of Famagusta, it is evident that the ancients were very active commercially along this cost. Apart from the scattered ancient artefacts and anchors on the sandy bottom, the wall along the dive site is home for groupers, nudy branches and you may also come along to a sand ray relaxing on the posedonia oceanica or on the sandy bottom.

The dive site is a relatively long to finish in one dive, so you may want to see the whole dive site by diving there twice, to make sure you see every bit of ancient history lying under the blue waters of Bafra.
